End of Year Message 2024

Helen Deely, HSE Health and Wellbeing Assistant National Director

As 2024 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners, both internal and external who have played a key role in supporting people to live healthier lives.

This year has been a period of change for the HSE as we move to a Health Region structure. In this context I was heartened to hear Bernard Gloster, CEO HSE, talking about an integrated care approach when he spoke on our HSE Talking Health & Wellbeing podcast series, which has just published the 80th episode.

Our Priority Programmes continue to support the delivery of evidence based services and initiatives, some of which are featured in our end of year videoThe HSE Health & Wellbeing Annual Report 2023, provides more detail about our key areas of work.

I would also like to highlight the redevelopment of the www.healthpromotion.ie website as it moves to the final stage.  This user friendly website, enables healthcare professionals and members of the public to access health related information and promotional materials.

Looking forward to next year, I’m pleased to see new developments funded in a range of our programmes, including the expansion of PrEP and STI services, Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Sláintecare Healthy Communities and someone to drive implementation of the Men’s Health Action Plan.  .

I must also acknowledge the work of our regional Health and Wellbeing colleagues around the country and the work they are doing to ensure health promotion, prevention and improvement remain prioritised in this time of change.

Finally to you our readers, thank you for your support and I hope you continue to find a value in the information we provide. We look forward to continued collaborative working in 2025.

Helen
