Webinar: ‘Working together to Make Every Move Count’

The second webinar in the ‘Working together to Make Every Move Count’ webinar took place last week. The series launched in April this year and aims to support healthcare professionals to raise the topic of physical activity and actively support patients to become more active.

This webinar focused on raising the topic of physical activity and the pathways patients can be signposted to. It also featured the launch of an evaluation report for the Sport Ireland initiative, ‘The Physical Activity for Health Officer Pilot’. The webinar featured presentations, insights, and discussions from a number of HSE staff members, as well as from Sport Ireland. It included an address by Minister of State, Jennifer Murnane O’Connor,  Department of Health with special responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing, and the National Drugs Strategy and Minister of State, Patrick O’Donovan, Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.

The National Physical Activity and Sedentary Guidelines for Ireland can help people to make choices to increasing their physical activity levels. The more time spent being physically active, the greater the health benefits – even relatively small increases in moderate level physical activity, up to 5 hours a week, can contribute to improved health.
