A ‘Chronic Disease Curriculum – Prevention and Management’ webinar was hosted on the 28th May, with over 500 registered, and over 200 attending this event on the day.
The Chronic Disease Prevention and Management curriculum was developed through a unique collaboration between HSE and all HEIs in Ireland. The curriculum consists of a Making Every Contact Count (MECC) component and a Self-Management Support (SMS) component.
To understand how this curriculum is currently being delivered across HEIs and how the knowledge and skills are being applied during clinical/practice education, the HSE commissioned research to explore these aspects. The research was carried out by Trinity College Dublin.
This webinar presented the research findings from the commissioned research ‘Exploring the Implementation of the National Undergraduate Curriculum for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management in Higher Education Institutes in Ireland’. The webinar included:

- Key findings and recommendations.
- Panel discussion focusing on the study recommendations and future implementation
