The HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast series made its return last week focusing on helping parents tackle various health and wellbeing challenges their children face. Our first three episodes in August and September focus on ‘Back to School’, ‘Healthy Lunchboxes for Kids’, and ‘Screen Time and Young People’. You can find these episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts by searching ‘HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast’.
Our weekly podcast series returned with a Back to School special featuring Dr. Abigail Collins, a Consultant in Public Health and National Clinical Lead for the National Healthy Childhood Programme. Dr. Collins, and host Noreen Turley, both experienced mothers themselves, bring a wealth of knowledge and practical advice to help us navigate the back-to-school season with ease.
Healthy Lunchboxes for Kids
In this week’s episode, host Eamonn Keogh sat down with HSE Health and Wellbeing Dietetic Lead, Marian McBride, to discuss the importance of balanced diets and healthy lunchboxes for children. Their comprehensive conversation breaks down the expert advice into actionable tips for parents, ensuring that your child’s lunchbox is not only nutritious but also appealing.
Screen Time and Young People
Tune in to next week’s episode, coming out on the 4th of September, when host Fergal Fox, sits down with two Senior Clinical Psychologists to discuss what healthy screen time looks like and how parents can model good behaviours for their children. They will explore how screen time affects health and well-being, emphasising the need for the mindful use of devices and family conversations about screen habits.
