Invest in Your Own Mental Health and Resilience

Mental health and wellbeing has come to the fore due to the pandemic and there are a growing number of resources available to utilise for people to learn more about their mental health and wellbeing and how they protect and promote it. Two such free evidenced based programmes available from HSE Health and Wellbeing are:

Stress Control On-line programme – Starts again 8th March 2021

  • Go to www.stresscontrol.ie (see start times above)
  • Runs for three weeks
  • Evidence-based programme that teaches practical skills to deal with stress
  • Helps you recognise the signs of stress such as how stress affects our bodies and our thoughts
  • Develop skills to overcome panicky feelings and how to get a good night’s sleep

Michelle Dwyer, who completed the course online told Health and Wellbeing that she really enjoyed the mindfulness exercises on the stresscontrol.ie website and she also outlined her reasons for taking part:

“I guess I started this course because like most people I can get overwhelmed and a bit anxious at times. I am out of work due to the pandemic and my son has his leaving cert this year so both of those things have made me a bit anxious.”
