Working together to make Every Move Count: Webinar Series

The ‘Working together to make Every Move Count’ webinar series launches in April this year.  The webinar series aims to support healthcare professionals to raise the topic of physical activity and actively support patients to become more active. Over the course of a four-webinar series, information on a wider range of supports for health professionals will be shared.

The first webinar in the series will focus on the new HSE Get Active programme. The 10-week free physical activity and behaviour change support is the result of a collaboration between HSE Healthy Eating Active Living and HSE Digital.

The programme initially will be available on the HSE Health App, but in time will be available on www.hse.ie. The Get Active programme aims to support people who are not currently active, to become more active. It includes a graded walking programme, strength-based exercise sessions and behaviour change education content. The programme launch forms part of the HSE Health App V5 release at end March 2026.

In 2024, Ireland published updated Physical Activity and Sedentary Guidelines, ‘Every Move Counts’. The more time spent being physically active, the greater the health benefits – even relatively small increases in moderate level physical activity can contribute to improved health.

In June 2025, these guidelines were extended to include guidance for pregnant and postpartum women, and people living with chronic conditions. Despite this, the majority of the population remain insufficiently active, with 59% of the population not meeting these guidelines. The health service setting provides the opportunity to identify those who aren’t active, and support patients to make every move count.
