World Conference on Tobacco Control

The World Conference on Tobacco Control (WCTC) was held at the Convention Centre in Dublin from June 23 – 25. The conference served as a pivotal gathering for tobacco control experts, policymakers, and advocates from around the globe, providing a unique opportunity to share insights and learn about the latest evidence and expertise in tobacco control.

Irish work in tobacco control was showcased through a workshop on smoking and health inequalities (financial incentives, We Can Quit, maternity services and the Irish Prison Service), plenary sessions and poster presentations.

A new research paper on the Evolution of nicotine product use in Ireland 2015-2023, and associations with quit intentions and attempts (lead author Dr Margaret Brennan, SpR Public Health Medicine) was presented to the conference and has been published in the Lancet Regional Health Europe.  You can read the paper by clicking the link https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666776225001449.
